Here follows a quick mini-FAQ on my availability for work.

Are you available?

I'm not currently looking to change my main employment.

I am potentially available for short term consultancy/contract work although it would have to fit around my current day job. Feel free to mail relevant interesting options. The worst that will happen is consignment to /dev/null :-)

But the skills on your CV is a perfect fit for this opportunity I have!

That's great. However your unlikely to sell a job to me based on the keyword hit rate between your job spec and my CV. I've picked up a lot of skills in my time it's not unexpected I'll match more keywords. Any interest in an opportunity will be driven by my interest in the problem being solved rather than what technologies are used to solve it. In common with most engineers I'm more interested in opportunities based around new development rather than maintaining legacy systems.

I have been working almost exclusively with "Open Source" technologies for some time and have a strong preference for working with open platforms. Any opportunity would have to involve a greater involvement with FLOSS code than I currently do now (which is quite a bit).

The job is based somewhere other than Cambridge

I am currently putting down roots in Cambridge, England. However lot of stuff can be done at home when it comes to software so I'll consider remote working for the right opportunity.
