Good news

It seems Jodrell Bank will be safe for the next next two years at least. Of course I still have questions about the general level of funding in science in this country but as it stands I think it's good news. I'm glad I wrote the letter to my MP (and judging by her reply many others did too). I have no idea if it helped of course, but I'm sure it didn't hurt.

On the subject of letter writing I've had two replies from MEP's with regards to the recent telecoms regulations. The UKIP one was the most hysterical combined with an admonishment to "get out of the EU. That can only be achieved by electing to Westminster a party with that aim." which was rather self serving. I think it will be pretty hard to convince me we should withdraw from Europe although there are certainly reforms that could be made to it.
