Job Centre Plus, FAIL

I attempted to sort out my JSA claim today. Unfortunately everything has been centralised behind a single 0800 number. I can call it on my mobile but I don't really want to spend my first week of dole money paying for the call while I wait in the queue. Of course currently only having an old style loop disconnect phone connected to the land line I can't get past the first automated menu, *sigh*. Phoning the local Job Centre was pointless as they couldn't tell me a geographic number I could call on my mobile. The usually excellent No to 0870 site has also failed me. If one was very cynical you might conclude this is a move to cut a few percentage points off the dole numbers :-(
