Ding Dong DRM is dead

Well it took long enough to get there but finally iTunes is bowing to the inevitable. Of course I'm not the world biggest Apple fan so I don't see this as altruism on their part. When their market share is threatened they will act to maintain it and iTunes still practically owns the digital download market.

Of course a freedom crusader like me won't be satisfied until music is downloadable in less encumbered formats but for now I'm happy. I wonder if the seeing of the light by the music industry will be noticed by their cousins in the movie business? Somehow I doubt it will.
