I caught All in the Mind on the way home last night. They were discussing the possible therapeutic uses of various recreational psychoactive compounds and the problems clinicians have studying them because of their legal status. I've always held that there should be more research into these compounds not withstanding their recreational use. It seems once a drug is made illegal we stop trying to understand it in either context which as a scientist seems nonsensical. I'm still not sure why the government made mushrooms Class A apart from the fact that lots of people seemed to be enjoying them.
